- YOU CAN BE THE CHANGE -

THE PROBLEM

815 million hungry people
in the world today.

Hunger kills more people than AIDS,
tuberculosis and malaria combined

Poor nutrition causes nearly half (45%)
of deaths in children under five - 3.1
million children each year

World hunger is the number one cause of death, and according to the United Nations, the number of undernourished people continues to rise.

The numbers are tragic - hundreds of millions of people living in developing countries survive on $1.90 a day - or less.

The problem isn’t that there isn’t enough food in the world - in fact, the world produces enough food to feed all 7.5 billion people - poverty and hunger exist in a vicious cycle.

Families living in poverty cannot afford food, and in turn, without food or proper nutrition, it becomes difficult for families and individuals to earn more money.

Which is why - if we end world hunger, many of the other problems in the world will cease to exist as well.

But this problem is also much closer to home here in Canada. According to a 2019 report by Hunger Count shows that 34.1% of Food Bank users are children despite only representing 19.4% of the population.

- SO WHAT CAN WE DO? -

THE SOLUTION

We are halfway across the world. No matter what we do, we cannot stop the fighting and the reasons that they are starving in the first place.

But we can provide food and feed them. And we don’t have to just drop off food packages, we can create a sustainable model for entire communities where they can get fresh food every single day.

Whether that’s fresh bread or warm meals. The team behind Share a Meal has 20 years of experience, in providing food, building bakeries/kitchens, and feeding thousands of people every single day.

Thanks to our supporters we have delivered 1500+ hot meals to the vulnerable across the GTA this holiday season.

We are halfway across the world. No matter what we do, we cannot stop the fighting and the reasons that they are starving in the first place.

But we can provide food can feed them. And we don’t have to just drop off food packages, we can create a sustainable model for entire communities where they can get fresh food every single day.

Whether that’s fresh bread or warm meals. We’re currently on the ground in Yemen, Pakistan, Afghanistan, Lebanon, India, Bangladesh and Syria - building bakeries and kitchens, and feeding thousands of people every single day.

We can’t reach our goal of providing One Million meals without you.

- WHAT WE DO -

WE’VE HELPED THOUSANDS OF INDIVIDUALS AND FAMILIES
ALL AROUND THE WORLD.

But there is much more to do.

We not only want to stop the famine and struggles
in a handful of countries, but we envision a world
where every struggling community has a free
public bakery or kitchen that serves hot meals to
the vulnerable.

We cannot do this without you. We have our
volunteers, and we have the resources on the
ground.

There are three ways we can feed the less fortunate:

Hot Meals - We understand that many families don’t
have homes, let alone a stove or fridge to stock
with groceries. These families are often struggling
to survive, and lack access to basic necessities.
For them, we provide
hot fresh meals, either through
a local
partner vendor or our own kitchen.

Food Baskets - We also understand that for many families,
it makes more sense to provide them with a basket of essential
food items, specific to their cultural and regional needs.
These families are often low-income families who have
a home but struggle to put food on the table. For them,
we provide food baskets, or grocery vouchers so they can
purchase their own groceries.

Food Banks - Setting up food banks that resemble grocery
stores is the ultimate goal, We want to set these up in
areas that are lacking food banks, letting the vulnerable segments
of any society or community come in and ‘shop’ for their groceries.
This will not only feed them but do so in the most dignified manner
possible. In areas where there are food banks, we will help
sustain them and support the local community through them.

We need your help to end
world hunger.
